We opted for the Vuono to share and it was a massive portion of mixed grilled meats, salad, chips and pitta bread.

The pitta bread is amazing as was the Tzatziki.

Menus are as predictable as the repetitive twang and thud of bouzouki music: hummus, taramasalata, tzatziki, olives, pitta, kebabs, feta till it’s coming out your ears.

Santorini fava bean spread is marginally more fun, thanks to its cap of caramelised onions and capers, although it too could do with a more abundant lick of olive oil.

Pitta bread (from Greece, not made on the premises) is attractively oily, darkly criss-crossed from the grill, and comes in an explosion of aromatic oregano.

Fresh and daringly fragile courgette fritters speckled with dill, mint and feta would definitely hit the spot were it not for their lingering cooking oil whiff, which flags up that an oil change is overdue.

Warm grilled aubergine pulp mashed with feta, parsley, and olive oil is much cleaner in the mouth.

I know I’ve gone on record as saying that Star Wars is one of the most overrated movie franchises in history, (and I genuinely believe that) but J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens was pretty decent stuff, largely because it had the good sense to deliver a sort of ‘greatest hits’ package, featuring all the best bits from A New Hope.

This time out, we have writer/director Rian Johnson at the controls and I have to say, rather than the exhilarating flight we had last time, this is more reminiscent of an interminable train journey, packed with passengers you neither know nor care about.

Luke manages to spend pretty much the entire two hours and thirty two minutes running time trying to make his mind up, though of course, we all know he’ll get there in the end… This procrastination seems to be key to Johnson’s vision.

Kylo Renn (Adam Driver) faffs around trying to decide whether he’s good or bad (when of course we all know which one it is), Rey seems, for quite a while, to be suffering from exactly the same malady and Finn (John Boyega) spends much of his time scampering around a variety of exotic locations with his new sidekick, Rose (Kelly Marie Tran).

I can’t help feeling that the well is running pretty dry and unless somebody comes up with something very inventive soon, it may just be time to press the ‘self-destruct’ button on Star Wars.

There are two of them, generously filled with tender crab meat and served with a tangy chipotle hollandaise sauce.

On to the main course.

We’ve opted for a sharing cut of bone-in-rib steak with Sunday dinner trimmings, and we’re relishing the thought.

Just as we’re expecting to be served, however, the waiter appears to tell us that the chef has prepared the wrong meat for us – he’s prepared a porterhouse instead.

The sides of roast potato, al dente veg and Yorkshire pudding are delicious too – but the meat is very much the star of the show.

Then visit Edinburgh's Taxidi for some sun-kissed Greek food, says Gaby Soutar A Greek pal told me about this place.

Luckily, a distraction was provided by the waiter, who escorted my bossy buddy to a newly available table on the other side of this small and steamy-windowed cafe-like space, in the former premises of My Big Fat Greek Kitchen.

Phew, as my other half wasn’t in the mood for the suggested Man vs Food meat fest, £35, which is named after a mountain in Santorini and consists of two souvlaki skewers, two pork bellies, a pair of sausages, two chicken thighs, four mpifteki (a feta stuffed burger), pita bread and chips.

Yes there’s a nymph of the same name in Greek mythology, but the only Daphne I can picture was in Scooby Doo and I’m sure her buddy Shaggy would say “zoinks!”

As our only meat dish, this set of five patties was texturally light and airy, like ping-pong balls rather than snooker ones, and came with another of those yogurt dips.
