Blonde (75 St Leonard's Street, Edinburgh) | The List
drinks food
The 2017/18 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+ ).
A quiet confidence hums around a bistro that knows what it’s about – Blonde is settling into its 17th year, but doesn't take anything for granted.
A warm, moist salad of Stornoway black pudding is accented with tangy goat’s cheese and dried cherries.
Casserole of venison is enriched with red wine, chocolate and root vegetables, while grilled fillet of cod spills over its smoked cheddar mash into a pool of velvety creamed leeks.
Warm and cold puddings delight and tempt while a canny wine list keeps most options under the £20 mark without sacrificing quality or interest.

It's a good place for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and cake break.
The food is good, homemade fare at reasonable prices and you just can't beat fresh baked muffins and scones.
This is a good choice if you are after a relaxed recharge and you want somewhere to watch the world go by for a while.

food location staff
Blonde is a relaxed and informal restaurant situated on St. Leonard’s Street in the south side of Edinburgh’s city centre.
Accessible to wheelchair users, Blonde is also child-friendly and can provide highchairs for diners with children.
The menus often feature innovative pairings of ingredients, like the warm salad of Stornoway black pudding with raspberry & walnut and a red onion marmalade; a filo parcel filled with sweet potato & veggie haggis served with roasted potato, turnip & celeriac and a vegetable gravy; or the lamb, paprika & tomato meatballs with a creamy red pesto fettuccine and grated Parmesan.
Even some traditional items don’t escape Blonde’s culinary experimentation, as evidenced in the venison casserole which is cooked slowly with red wine, root vegetables and chocolate (yes, you read that right) and served with buttered mash and parsnips crisps.
Blonde is on St. Leonard’s Street in the south side of Edinburgh, and is a brisk 15 minute walk from Waverley train station.
