Eden's Kitchen

We believe that natural and organic ingredients are the only ones that should be used.

Therefore, it is our aim to use healthy, seasonal and locally sourced produce; which are GMO free and where possible, organic and natural.

(At present 90% of the produce used is organic and we are continually striving to improve this).

All of our chicken beef and lamb are organic so reared without GMO, antibiotic, herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizer.

Eden's Kitchen (32C Broughton Street, Edinburgh) | The List

Cosy BYOB Turkish and Greek restaurant / pizzeria on Broughton Street with an emphasis on organic and GM-free produce.

With Vino a few doors away and Villeneuve WInes just across the road, Eden's Kitchen might just be the best-positioned BYOB restaurant in Edinburgh.

As for the menu, this unique bistro prides itself on GM-free, locally sourced, and mostly organic produce across a breadth of Turkish, Greek and Italian dishes.

Dregs of wine are finished off with proper homemade baklava, and while service is by no means exemplary, an inviting, cosy environment means casual diners keep coming back for more.

Eden's Kitchen doesn't quite live up to its hype, finds Gaby Soutar The problem with being a restaurant reviewer: friends put in requests.

There are Turkish, Italian and Greek bits amongst the mass feast, which includes 11 cold starters/mezze, 10 hot ones, 18 varieties of pizza, six pastas, four burgers, one steak, four salads, nine mains and five puddings.

It featured a glutinous pillow of pasty squished aubergine topped with soft shredded lamb and punctuated by bits of red pepper and chilli.

Unfortunately, my main course of grilled salmon with pomegranate molasses (£10.90) was a bit of a nonevent.

So, yeah, I’m a bit done with special requests from friends.

Broughton, Edinburgh | Edinburgh Guide

Review analysis
location

The Broughton area is to the North East of Edinburgh City Centre, West of Leith Walk and South of Pilrig.

Its central location and the fact that it is on the edge of Edinburgh New Town, but without the housing costs of the New Town, has made it a vibrant area with a good number of pubs and restaurants particularly on Broughton Street.

An ancient feudal barony, Broughton can be roughly defined as the area between Leith Walk in the south east, Broughton Street in the south west, Broughton Road in the north west and McDonald Road in the north east.

There was plenty of variety on the menu from mezze food to pizza, pastas and traditional hearty meat dishes.

We had booked the table for a celebratory meal for myself and 2 of my friends.

The two of us arrived at 6pm and whilst we were salivating at the menu, our friend arrived 10 minutes later.

As soon as she sat down the waitress was over ready to take our menu, we politely commented that we would need a few minutes so my friend could choose to be told that we didn't have time as she needed the table back for 7.20pm.

I did enquire if you could book tables for longer than 90 minutes, (I wasn't aware when we booked it was only for 90 minutes), and I was told that that was not possible.
